No Rooms Available

Spread the love

It was very early in my new career and I was not familiar with the surroundings where I was in. I completed a survey job at Kemaman Supply Base, Terengganu at about 2300 hrs. Somehow, I decided to drive all the way to Kuantan, which was about an hour drive away to look for a hotel to stay.

At this time of the year, with the long school holidays, I found that each hotel that I drove to was full. I spent about 3 hours searching around town driving in the wee hours of the morning looking for a place to stay. And I could not find any with rooms available.

Finally, I put up in a budget hotel at a beach. The room was very small, without any windows and there was a musty smell in the air. Still, I was thankful just to be able to catch up on some sleep.

I know now how it felt for the Holy Family when they were told that there were no rooms available and that the baby Jesus had to be born in a stable.

Such an enlightening insight!
